These two characters were up to something, although I couldn’t tell what, whilst simultaneously admiring the pretty girls each time they walked by. I was hoping to get a picture of their women admiring antics but shooting from across the street made it difficult with the passing traffic.

Mumbai afternoon

The setting sun over Back Bay in Mumbai. It wasn’t until later in the evening that a ‘Tourist Police’ officer informed me (I think) that photography was prohibited all along this area. He didn’t understand me however when I inquired as to why it was prohibited – another classic Indian way to make more money, or paranoia about terrorism?

Taking a break

Just like laborers back in Australia, these guys carrying out restoration work on the Agra Fort Palaces were having a break both times (within 2 hours) that I ‘accidentally’ wandered into the restricted area where the restoration was taking place. It was a shame that half of the Fort was closed to the public due to the restoration work, but it will be worth it in the end.

The Lonely Dog

This dog was staring at me as I walked down the road between the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. Everyone else was ignoring it, kicking it or trying to run it over, but somehow it knew it had a friend in me. I took his photo then gave him a chapati to eat (although he’d probably prefer a steak).

Meditating Monkey

This monkey was meditating on the fence of my balcony in McLeod Ganj, India. Or perhaps it was sleeping because after hearing the shutter of the camera it launched itself at me (I was only a meter or two away from her). I narrowly escaped, and unfortunately didn’t get a picture of its teeth as it was coming for me.

Squirrel

This hungry little squirrel has moved in somewhere by the house in Meråker. He is often seen scurrying about collecting the sunflower seeds put out for the birds and burying them all over the front garden. I suspect there will be many sunflowers growing this year. He is the only one I have seen in this area, although I have seen evidence of others.

Munkholmen

Munkholmen (or The Monks Island in English) was in ancient times, Trondheim’s execution ground. Benedictine monks built the still standing monastery on the island in the early 11th century. Later it was converted into a prison and fort, and then becoming a customs house. These days it holds a restaurant and a popular recreational area with good swimming. This photo was taken from Havstein, which is in Trondheim to the West of the Nidelva river.
