Taken on the road to the beach near Baucau in Timor Leste back in 2005. This road was very long, and lined sporadically with fields which must be used in the wet season for maybe rice, this kid had a long walk ahead of him. I don’t for a minute think that would be a bad thing! A perfect life.

This is a new edit of a previous post of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. The original was published without any post-processing (converted from RAW format without adjustment) due to time restraints and availability of a decent internet connection while I was in India. This version is much more representative of the light and scene as I experienced it at dawn on the 31st of December 2007.

The common Blackbird (Turdus merula) is an introduced species and a pest in Australia, but none the less they sing beautifully (although not often enough) and have the cutest hatchlings. These are 2 of 3 eggs that have hatched just outside our back door in a lavender bush.

The only Meropidae species found in Australia, the Rainbow bee-eater (Merops Ornatus) is common throughout Southern Australia and Tasmania but are becoming increasingly rare in suburbia. During Winter they migrate to Northern Australia, New Guinea, and some of the Indonesian Islands.

In a desert within the driest continent on earth, everything owes its life to the little water that does fall from the sky. Yet life flourishes within those communities that have learned to find and use it wisely.
